The 30 awards won at the Game Awards

If you didn't have the chance to watch the Game Awards last night hosted and produced by Geoff Keighley then here are all 30 awards that was won last night and the games that won them.

As the event ran from 12:30AM till 4:30AM on Friday 10th December, its understandable to imagine not many members of the UK stayed up to watch the entirety of the Game Awards and therefore this articles hopes to inform you on who won what.


30. Best Game Direction

What sets games apart from one another is the creative vision and innovation of a game through the direction it takes and the design of it. That's exactly what Deathloop by Arkane Studios has done leaving it to win the Best Game Direction award.


29. Best Narrative

A game with a good narrative is likely to carry a strong message to society. Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy by Eidos-Montréal won the Best Narrative award for its outstanding storytelling and development of narrative.


28. Best Art Direction

The art style of a game is one of the key things you remember from playing and therefore during the Best Art Direction award companies are rewarded for their vibrancy, creativity and technical achievement in both design and animation. That's why Deathloop by Arkane Studios also won this category.


27. Best Score and Music

Just as important as the art is the music the game uses to display emotion and to get your blood pumping. NierR Replicant ver. 1.22474487139... by Toylogic and Square Enix won this award for their amazing soundtrack that always manages to match the mood of the experience on screen.


26. Best Audio Design

Similarly to the last category audio is being awarded here however this was for the crisp sound effects of revving engines, bullet shots or the buzzing of electricity. Forza Horizon 5 by Playground Games won this award for their perfect sound design that created a immersive experience.


25. Best Performance

This award isn't for a game but instead for an individual that played a character in the game. All five of these contestants were worthy of receiving the Best Performance award for becoming characters players either loved or hated. In the end the award was won by Maggie Robertson who starred as Lady Dimitrescu in Resident Evil: Village, congratulations.


24. Games for Impact


Life is Strange: True Colours by Deck Nine and Square Enix won the award for Games for Impact with its thought provoking narrative and its effective message spread while playing this incredible story.


23. Best Ongoing

Some games at the Game Awards aren't new however they are awarded for their constant stream of new content they present to players to evolve the experience of their game. Final Fantasy XIV Online by Square Enix won this award for the games developments over time.


22. Best Indie


It isn't just big titles at the Game Awards as small indie companies also have a chance to win awards, this year the Best Indie award went to Kena: Bridge of Spirits by Ember Lab for their action adventure game.


21. Best Mobile Game

Technology has developed so far that games can even be experienced effectively on mobile phones, that's why Genshin Impact by miHoYo won the Best Mobile Gaming Award for creating an in-depth and effective game that can be experienced efficiently on a mobile device.


20. Best Community Support

Games can only be made better if the companies that create them take notice to what their audience is telling them, Square Enix has been listening to their player base for once again for Final Fantasy XIV Online to make a transparent and supportive experience for their community.


19. Innovation in Accessibility

Gaming is now experienced by a wider audience which may need certain software or hardware to make their gaming accessible to them. The Innovation in Accessibility award hopes to praise those that are pushing the medium of gaming forward by include these features. This year Forza Horizon 5 by Playground Games won this award for their innovative accessibility settings by allowing players to access sign language interpreter.


18. Best VR / AR

Gaming has also developed to be experienced in an immersive way through virtual reality or augmented reality. This category celebrates these companies that have created content that should be experienced through a headset to put the player into this environment. Armature Studio and Capcom won this award with their recent remake of Resident Evil 4 where players get to experience this timeless classic in-person.


17. Best Action Game

Congratulations to Returnal by Housemarque for this years Best Action Game, their effective combat and innovative features brought the game its win this year.


16. Best Action / Adventure

Congratulations to Metroid Dread by Mercury Steam and Nintendo Entertainment for receiving the award for the Best Action / Adventure Game this year.


15. Best Role Playing

Well done to Tales of Arise by BANDAI NAMCO for the Best Role Playing Game award, your creation of a rich experience with various character customisation and countless areas of progression has earnt you this title.

14. Best Fighting

The Best Fighting award was won by Guilty Gear - Strive - by Arc System Works congratulations for taking home this award tonight.


13. Best Family

Some games are better to experience with the whole family and that's why It Takes Two by Hazelight Studios won the award for their great co-operative gameplay to solve countless puzzles and fun boss fights.


12. Best Simulation / Strategy

This award focuses on real time or turn-based simulation or strategy games on a variety of platforms. These games take patience and strategy and therefore players believe that Age of Empires IV by Relic Entertainment and World's Edge were worthy of this award.


11. Best Sports / Racing

Congratulations once again to Forza Horizon 5 by Playground Games for this brilliant racing experience that players have enjoyed this year.


10. Best Multiplayer

Similarly to the Best Family game award, the Best Multiplayer award looks at games that have an outstanding online multiplayer experience including both massively multiplayer games or co-op. This year the action adventure game, It Takes Two by Hazelight Studios won the award.


9. Content Creator of the Year

Dream has made a positive impact to the gaming community this year through their content and therefore this award was to congratulate them for their work during 2021.


8. Best Debut Indie

This category celebrates indie games made by even newer indie studios, this year the Game Awards congratulated Ember Lab again for winning another award with their title Kena: Bridge of Spirits. Players look forward to the next title this company releases.


7. Most Anticipated Game

Another important award for this event is the Most Anticipated Game of this year, last years most anticipated game was Elden Ring a action role-playing game which hasn't released yet. This years most anticipated game was once again Elden Ring by FromSoftware Inc. which plans to release the 25th of February next year.


6. Best E-Sports Game

This category looks at which title gave the best e-sport experience for players to watch, League of Legends by Riot Games won this award due to its exciting tournaments and great community support.


5. Best E-Sports Athlete

Congratulations to Oleksandr Kostyliev better known as Simple for winning the Best E-Sport Athlete award due to his performance while playing Counter Strike: Global Offensive.


4. Best E-Sports Team


The Best E-Sport Team award was given to Natus Vincere who competed in Counter Strike: Global Offensive for their outstanding performance during 2021.


3. Best E-Sports Coach

The Award for the Best E-Sport Coach went to Kim Jeong-Gyun better known as KKOMA for his performance when coaching [team], congratulations.


2. Best E-Sports Event

The final e-sports award goes to the 2021 League of Legends Championship due to delivering a best class experience for both participants and the audience it broadcasted to.


1. Game of the Year

Last but not least the Game of the Year went to It takes Two by Hazelight Studios. This in-depth co-op takes players on an adventure where a divorcing husband and wife are forced to work together to turn themselves back to normal after their daughter turns them to dolls.
