Three days (for brits) till the Game Awards

In the early hours of Friday, gamers in the UK can catch the Game Awards Livestream where the companies will find out which games were the most promising this year.

The Game Awards is an annual event that is produced by Canadian video game journalist, Geoff Keighley, who claims to bring 'diverse groups of game developers, game players and notable names from popular culture together to celebrate and advance the gaming position as a source of entertainment.'

It will be hosted live from the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles at 4:30 PM PT on the 9th December (12:30 AM GMT, Friday 10th December) to wrap up 2021's year of gaming.

Sneak peeks of upcoming content has already been revealed by Geoff as he recently posted on Twitter a teaser trailer for The Matrix Awakens, an Unknown Engine 5 Experience for both PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X|S that shows only a glimpse at the potential future for interactive storytelling on the Unreal Engine.

This isn't a game but many users hope that it eventually will be as one said: "Hope it doesn’t just stay a tech demo and they’re making something like Path of Neo"

With a variety of awards to be won by the gaming industry community like Best Narrative, Best Indie, and Most Anticipated Game, a company is always likely to win something.

However, the most important award at this event is the Game of the Year award, where this year players have had six titles to choose from.

Many appear to have high hopes for Metroid Dread to win this award as one user said: "METROID DREAD LET'S GO!! Hopefully, Nintendo will notice the impact the series can make"

Other Twitter comments mentioned their belief that Forza Horizon 5 should have been a nominee as they said:

"WHERES FORZA HORIZON 5??? I understand Halo, obviously, but Forza? The highest-rated game of the year with 9M players on its first release week??"

All these games appear to have a similar chance of winning from the community due to the variety of genres mentioned as only time will tell who will be the true game of the year.

It isn't over yet as gamers still have a chance to cast their vote on the 30 categories over on the Game Awards website before the live show airs.
