Today(Thursday 31st October) would have been the day the UK was to leave the EU. However, another delay was issued and now we are racing full speed towards a general election.
However, as some MPs prepare for the 12th of December others have decided that they wish to resign.
The House of Commons will lose over 750 years of parliamentary experience as more than 50 are preparing to stand down before the general election.
Here are only a small portion of the people that we know are leaving so far.
Nicky Morgan(Loughborough) the current culture secretary of the Conservative party announced yesterday(30th October) that she shall be leaving.
Ken Clarke (Independents), a long-serving MP in the House of Commons who had served the Rushcliffe Constituency for almost half a century.
Mr Clarke was expelled by Boris Johnson; the leader of the Conservative party, on the 4th September after he rebelled against the Government during Brexit.
There have also been members of Labour resigning such as Gloria De Piero, the Ex-Shadow justice minister of Ashfield as she believes there was a “lack of tolerance for different viewpoints.”
“The lack of tolerance for different viewpoints in the Labour Party frankly worries me. We have to have respect for each other, even if we disagree, because we are all part of this Party“ - Gloria De Piero - leaving speech
As many MPs resign many are left to question what will come of the general election in December and will the UK leave the EU on the 31st of January 2020?
