This week marks the 120th birthday of the Birmingham Hippodrome after opening in 1899. They shall be celebrating this big day with the “Circus 120- Birthday open day.”
All ages will be able to get involved in circus-themed activities such as the drop-in workshop with Theatre company Rogue Play or even going to watch a performance from tribal belly dance group Khalgani.

Similarly, there shall be a performance from Circus 1903 at 3pm and 7:30pm in the Main House of the theatre, tickets are on sale for £15.50.
The performance is said to include life-sized elephants that have been created by the award-winning team of War Horse, taking you back to the “mesmerizing golden age of circus”.
Apart from this, the Hippodrome shall also be receiving a sculpture named after the original title of the theatre: the “Tower of Varieties”. It was created by Rachel Champion in partnership with the Pangaea sculptors’ center.
The sculpture shall be on display tomorrow (Friday 25th October) and will be located in the foyer of the building.
