CK Projekt Red's open-world RPG Cyberpunk 2077 received countless positive reviews during the Black Friday Sales on Steam.
When Cyberpunk 2077 was released last year on the 10th of December, players of the futuristic game, especially on console platforms such as the PS4 and Xbox One, were disappointed by the quality of the content that was published.
Gamers were met with a variety of bugs and glitches that made the game unplayable for some as well as many consoles crashing while trying to run it. The entertainment software company, Sony also removed Cyberpunk from their online stores until a certain quality was met before allowing players to purchase it again.
This led to many negative reviews leading it to have a Metacritic score of 57 (PS4 Version) with reviewers like Josh Harmon from EGM saying: "Cyberpunk 2077’s bugs and technical issues certainly hold it back, and with any luck, those will be fixed in the coming months.
It’s more difficult to imagine CD Projekt Red doing enough to resolve the deeper problems: awkwardly balanced systems, storytelling misfires, and an inability to merge its open-world action and RPG gameplay into something smooth and cohesive."
In response to this last January, CD Projekt Red posted on its official website an article titled 'Our Commitment to Quality' where they claimed to be 'committed to fixing bugs and crashes and will continue to work and improve the game via future updates.'
There was also a video attached to this message from the co-founder of CD Projekt, Marcin Iwiński where he explained the run-up to the release of Cyberpunk 2077.
CD Projekt Red appears to have kept to this commitment as throughout 2021 there has been bug fixes and free DLC for players to enjoy.
This Black Friday Cyberpunk 2077 was 50% off on a variety of online stores including Steam for computer players as well as console platforms for players to enjoy.
Responses from purchases of the title during the Black Friday sales have been promising with Steam reporting that over 27,000 recent reviews have been very positive.
One user said: "It was a game that did not live up to expectations and hype. It came out with a game quality that would not befit CD Project Red. Despite all the problems, I enjoyed while playing it.
"Night City is beautiful [it has a] good amount of dark and grim stuff as per the Cyberpunk genre. Main Story and side missions are great some missions have multiple endings"
In response to the positivity quest director of Cyberpunk 2077, Pawel Sasko posted on Twitter his appreciation for the recent positivity. He said: "Last days #Cyberpunk2077 received a flood of very positive reviews on Steam from the new players You can’t imagine what it means to me."
Players look forward to what else CD Projekt Red has in store for the title following its first year anniversary.
